The mind and body are not separate.
The ancient Chinese practice of Tai Chi recognises
this connection and promotes both physical and mental health, through specific exercises, movements, meditation and mental
focus. An excellent way to maintain overall health and fitness, and my classes are listed on the Tai Chi page.
However,
sometimes we can benefit from some specific help to deal with the challenges of life.
Problems arise
when we develop negative beliefs about ourselves or about the world. This will then affect the way we feel and behave.
We can generate anxiety and fear, or lose our self esteem or confidence; this blocks our
happiness and prevents us from being fulfilled.
My skills and abilities constitute a gentle and
effective 'talking' therapy, drawn from hypnosis and 'block clearance' psychotherapy. My aim is
to help you to turn negative experiences into positive learning, so you become stronger and more empowered
to deal with your life.
Where there is anxiety or fear, we can use deep relaxation techniques to
relieve the symptoms and gain control of the physiological reaction.
We may also use a process of
guided visualization to connect with the events and experiences that created our negative beliefs. This provides
an objective understanding of our challenges, which then enables us to find more positive and constructive
solutions and resources to deal with them.
There are times when we may simply need support and the space to allow ourselves to heal. Not every problem
needs to be confronted. Reiki is a 'hands-on healing' technique whereby universal energy is channelled to the
recipient, thought to enhance the body's natural healing ability, and helping to restore inner strength.
