Hypnosis is an‘altered
state of awareness’ similar to being in a day-dream. We do not go
‘under’ hypnosis, like being under a spell, but we go ‘into’ hypnosis, as we focus our attention into
the experience.
When
we are able to resolve our issues through conscious reasoning, there is no need for hypnotherapy. However, the change we want must take place at the subconscious level, otherwise we are fighting against
ourselves. In hypnosis, we by-pass the conscious mind, because it has already tried, and failed, to solve the problem.
During hypnosis
we contact the subconscious mind directly, to bring about changes in our attitudes, perceptions, beliefs and behaviours. We can re-programme the subconscious by supplying it with beneficial alternatives. For instance, replacing anxiety with confidence. The subconscious does not know the
difference between a real and a vividly imagined event, and so, in hypnosis, we can give the subconscious that experience
of confidence in a situation that previously provoked anxiety.
The
role of the subconscious mind is to keep us safe. Everything it makes us do, has a positive intention behind it. If the
subconscious creates fear or anxiety, it is helping us to avoid a perceived danger.
If it keeps us in a habit like smoking, it may have, for example, the positive intention of helping us to relax.
Through hypnosis we are able to identify those positive intentions and show the subconscious
that they can be fulfilled in other ways.
Hypnosis is most
effective for dealing with specific issues, such as:
Fears and phobias,
Anxiety and panic
attacks,
Lack of confidence
Smoking and other
habits,
Weight control.
Sessions:
The initial consultation
will take approximately 1½ hours. Subsequent sessions are 1
– 1½ hours. Charges are usually per session rather than per hour.
Specific issues are often
resolved in just a few sessions. Deeper rooted problems will require more sessions,
but these are usually spaced several weeks apart. For some people, Block Clearance
becomes an ongoing process of personal development and inner discovery, and you may wish to return many times, but how far
you go is always your decision.
