The Mind and Body Connection
The mind and body are not separate and the body reflects what happens in the mind. Stress comes in many forms and inevitably has an impact on the physical self, manifesting in anything from a headache to chronic illness and even accidents.
Our own attitudes and beliefs can be a source of stress, especially fear and anxiety, poor self-esteem and lack of confidence, so making changes to our psychology can improve both our physical and mental health. A change in attitude will not make us fit, but it can allow healing to take place. Not every condition can be healed but understanding can bring acceptance and greater emotional well being.
The emotional causes of illness can be treated through psychotherapy alongside conventional and complimentary medicine, to aid the healing process and prevent relapse.
